EcoCult Is Hiring!

We’re always on the hunt for passionate people who want to contribute to EcoCult’s mission to educate shoppers and professionals on the finer points of sustainable fashion. Check out our open positions below. These are all contract jobs, ranging up to 10 hours a week.

 

Assistant Shopping Editor

Crucial to financially supporting EcoCult’s mission, this position combines the business-savvy of marketing with the creativity and high ethical standards of editorial. Our shopping content is our most popular content with readers, as well!

The Assistant Shopping Editor will:

  • Pitch ideas for product roundups
  • Become intimately familiar with concepts of sustainability for consumer products
  • Research innovative, sustainable, and ethical brands to showcase in fashion and home product categories
  • Write or refresh 2-4 product roundups a month
  • Work closely with our Editor-in-Chief on writing style and edits
  • Use affiliate platforms (i.e. Skimlinks, AvantLink, etc) to monetize product roundups
  • Work closely with our Partnerships Director on brand placements

This role pays between $25 – $40 per hour based on experience and skillset.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be an excellent writer, with at least two years of professional writing experience
  • Speak English fluently (multilingual a plus)
  • Have a head for strategy and numbers
  • Understand basic sustainability concepts, especially as they pertain to fashion
  • Be able to cut through marketing speak to get at the core of whether a company/product is trustworthy
  • Be familiar with WordPress
  • Be a team player who happily incorporates feedback into their work
  • Experience working with affiliate platforms is a bonus
  • Be any gender, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, size, ability, or age. However, voices from groups that are underrepresented in fashion media and overrepresented in fashion production will get special consideration.

Contributing Writer

We’re looking for writers who are knowledgeable about sustainability and/or fashion, want to learn more, and share that with the world.

This Contributing Writer will:

  • Work directly with our Editor-in-Chief, journalist Alden Wicker
  • Pitch and brainstorm ideas alongside other contributing writers from around the world
  • Write and post one well-researched article a month
  • Source images for that article
  • Put it all into WordPress

Article fees start at $300 per article, with the possibility of a raise based on performance.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be an excellent writer, with at least two years of experience in editorial
  • Speak English fluently (multilingual a plus)
  • Understand the concept of SEO
  • Be well-versed in sustainable fashion, health, science, and/or business writing
  • Be a savvy and critical fact-checker, and willing to go where the research leads them, even if it’s against the commonly-accepted wisdom
  • Be able to cut through marketing speak to get at the core of whether a company/product is trustworthy
  • Be familiar with WordPress
  • Be any gender, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, size, ability, or age. However, voices from groups that are underrepresented in fashion media and overrepresented in fashion production will get special consideration.
