The market is carefully curated from a diverse group of independent designers and local artists hailing from the art, fashion, design, and culinary worlds, presented to facilitate meaningful interactions between the makers and the community.

The sixth annual celebration of meat-free delights is a go-green fantasy, spotlighting small plates and samples from vegetarian restaurants and food companies, cooking demonstrations, and animal rescue and eco-information tables. Headlining the culinary stage at this year’s event is husband-and-wife duo Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby of Philadelphia’s Vedge Restaurant and Adam Sobel, the chef behind vegan food-truck favorite Cinnamon Snail who’ll show festivalgoers how to prepare his signature Chinese steamed bao. In addition to enjoying plant-based bites, guests can hear from the likes of veggievore champion cyclist Christine Vardaros and keynote speaker Dr. Michael Greger, who literally wrote the book on eating to live: His best-selling 2015 guide to healthful superfoods is titled How Not to Die.

Jane’s Walk NYC brings together thousands of New Yorkers for an annual weekend long festival of 200+ free volunteer-led neighborhood walking tours across all five boroughs. Each walk provides a unique snapshot of New York City, and an opportunity to celebrate its vibrant past, present, and future. Held annually in over 180 cities across the globe during the first weekend of May, Jane’s Walk is an international movement that honors legendary urban activist Jane Jacobs. MAS (Municipal Art Society of New York) is the proud local organizer of Jane’s Walk NYC, which has grown from 23 walks into the largest Jane’s Walk festival in the world!

The designs being showcased have been chosen from a contest held among the high school and will be truly exciting to see. These top student designs are made from upcycled and earth-friendly materials and have been locally manufactured right at the BF+DA. Enjoy a runway show featuring career wear, sleepwear, and conceptual fashion looks, with over $10,000 in fashion school scholarships being awarded at the end of the show.

OutdoorFest, is a 1- day festival working to get urban dwellers more connected to the outdoors and bring together the outdoor adventure community in NYC. It kicks off with a camping event on Saturday, June 11th on Staten Island.
