Homecoming in Greenpoint: Go for the Coffee, Leave with a Plant

Looking for a good meeting spot for a coffee meeting in Greenpoint, I found Homecoming, a store/café that sells organic coffee and a lot of succulents.S-IMG_8929

Run by the husband and wife team Vanessa and Scott, it’s been open for a year and a half, but only recently changed its name from Spina to Homecoming. In front you’ll find a sun-soaked counter and seating area with avant guard magazines to read over your Blue Bottle coffee. In back, there are shelves full of pretty little things from local and U.S. makers.

“We’ve become very good friends with all of our artists,” Vanessa told me when I asked about how sustainable everything is in the store. “They give is info on how everything is made.” She suggests if you are there and want to verify your object of affection is indeed ethically made, ask someone at the sales counter in the back. All the ceramics are handmade, and most of the products are exclusive to Homecoming, making it worth a visit to Greenpoint to find something special.

Homecoming, 107 Franklin Street, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, off the G train.
