Green Beauty Review: Kari Gran’s Sophisticated but Natural Skincare

s_IMG_3478Kari Gran doesn’t make any grand claims about anti-aging or “minimizing the appearance” of anything. Instead, they provide simple and luxurious skincare products that are appropriate for all skin care types and ages.

Kari Gran’s hand-poured products are made using only organic, wild-harvested and non-GMO ingredients, and are free of parabens and toxins, plus don’t have water or fillers. (Kari Gran claims that most beauty cleansers and moisturizers on the market count water as their lead ingredient – it often makes up to 80% of the product.) Their oil-based products are packaged in dark violet glass bottles that block light and protect the delicate oils, mimicking the “cool, dark place” required for natural-based ingredients, so you can keep them right out on a shelf. They are pretty enough to display, after all. Each bottle is marked with a handwritten expiration date to guarantee freshness.

I’m already a big fan of Kari Gran’s Lip Whip. It feels silky smooth and comes in a pretty little container I’m happy to let rattle around in my purse. And I recently tried the Kari Gran starter kit*, with small sizes of the Kari Gran three-part skin care system: a two-week supply of Essential Serum, Lavender or Rose Hydrating Tonic and Cleansing Oil.

They recommend a rather elaborate ritual that involves several washcloth applications and combining products, but I used them simply at night, using the cleansing oil as you would any, misting the tonic and wiping away any remaining products and dirt, then finishing with the essential serum, which feels more like a moisturizing oil than a typical serum. I used the products for two weeks, and my skin stayed happy and moisturized.

I would definitely recommend the starter kit for your travel toiletry bag, or if you just want to try Kari Gran out before you invest in the full-sized line.

*They sent this for free to me.
