I Fell Completely in Love With All of Prim Botanicals’ Tropical Clean Beauty Products

When my Prim Botanicals package arrived like an early valentine on a cold day in late January, I knew immediately that I would fall in love with this brand. Packaged elegantly, with pastel colors and a tropical floral print, the items made a wonderful first impression and I have not been disappointed. The all-natural ingredients and lovely scents within each product create an incredibly luxurious, spa-like experience typically found among more mainstream skincare lines.

Founder Stefanie Walmsley was first inspired by the abundance of natural ingredients available on her childhood island home of Cebu, the Philippines, and began studying at The School for Aromatic Studies after a career acting and producing films in New York City. In 2015, Prim Botanicals launched The Face Oil and soon grew into a full line of all-natural face and body products.

For this review, I tried the Pretty Perfect Lip Sheen, Spoil Yourself Silly Body Scrub, and Mademoiselle Swell Perfume Oil, which comprise The Proper Collection within the line, as well as Potion No. 2, a face oil. Each product is incredible on its own, but when I used everything throughout my morning and evening routines, I was impressed by how well the items complement each other.

The Pretty Perfect Lip Sheen is a glossy lip balm in a neutral peach shade that offers lasting moisture for your lips. Comprised of nourishing oils like coconut, olive, castor seed, and red raspberry seed, as well as Manuka honey, this lip sheen is wonderful for layering with your favorite lipstick. Its shade is universally flattering and works well year-round.

My 7-year-old is my bath product tester, and he and I both loved the Spoil Yourself Silly Body Scrub, which contains Himalayan pink salt and sugar for exfoliation, along with many soothing oils to moisturize and scent your skin. While I added it to my son’s bath to soften and add a bit of scent, I always enjoy using a scrub before giving myself a pedicure. The texture is perfect for removing dry skin and the grapefruit, rose, and lemon oils add a delicious fragrance to your bath.

I was most excited to try Prim Botanicals’ Mademoiselle Swell Perfume Oil, since I love natural fragrances and enjoy finding new scents. This lovely roll-on bottle did not disappoint, and the blend of neroli, lemon, and jasmine is truly a tropical floral scent with lasting power. I especially enjoyed using it during these past few winter weeks to add a bit of spring as I dressed each morning. The fragrance uses fractionated coconut oil as a base and is gentle for sensitive skin.

Finally, I tried Potion No. 2, an incredibly hydrating facial oil that is perfect for use with Prim Botanicals’ original product, The Face Oil. Potion No. 2 is made from just three ingredients, andiroba oil, pracaxi oil, and marula oil, and though the bottle is quite small at just 0.25 fluid ounces, a drop or two is all that is needed for long-lasting moisture. I applied this under my moisturizer at night and found it incredibly soothing. It can also be applied as a moisturizing mask, or as a balm to treat insect bites, dry spots, and under-eye areas, just to name a few of its many uses. Potion No. 2 is a great travel-friendly, multi-use product that I confidently recommend.

I fell completely in love with Prim Botanicals and I am excited to try more of their products, including The Face Oil and the Not Proper Collection, which offers a different lip sheen shade and fragrance scent. The gentle, all-natural ingredients and beautifully crafted scents add an element of luxury to this already wonderful brand.
