The pretty set crowded into the lobby of the Carlton Hotel last week, sipping on wine and nibbling on hor d’oeuvres while they flipped through racks of clothing, handled jewelry and beauty products, and chatted with up-and-coming ethical designers.
The party was for the new site Young & Able, which aims to support New York designers by aggregating their gorgeous wares in one place for sale online, and telling their story. Many of the crafts you’ll find on Young & Able are handmade with locally sourced and sustainable materials. For example, I chatted with Annis Tan of Anvy, a contemporary designer brand based and made in New York City. Her pretty graphic printed pieces includes boxy cut tops in 100% silk and organza and floral printed slim pants in 100% organic cotton sateen.
Other designers featured included Ann Yee, Calyer Ceramics, Dirty Librarian Chains, Kung Katherine, Richards, Shana Luther, and Tabii Just.
