44 Places in NYC to Get Last-Minute, Conscious Holiday Gifts

Holidays shopping season is closing in on us!

Although online shopping seems to be the way to go these days if you’re looking for something specific, sometimes it’s more fun to actually walk into a store, browse the shelves, and hold something in your hand before deciding whether or not it’s a perfect fit for the person you’re shopping for.

So whether you get your shopping done early or are a tried and true procrastinator, here are all the New York City stores and pop-ups where you can get the perfect sustainable, eco-friendly, and conscious gift for everyone on your list.

Events & Pop-Ups

Brooklyn Flea
Industry City, Brooklyn

Canal Street Market
265 Canal Street, Manhattan
Along with shopping local brands, do cool things like decorate wreaths with Fox Fodder Farm and get manicured by Chillhouse, and have your presents gift-wrapped at no extra charge.

Personnel of New York Presents Hometown Heroines
Thursday, November 30th. 6pm—8pm. | 9 Greenwich Avenue, Manhattan
One of the city’s best indie stores is bringing in its favorite NYC-based female designers — the people behind Dusen DusenLoup, and Upstate among them — for a night of gift shopping, plus complimentary cocktails from organic Owl’s Brew and aura readings by Iris Eyris. As an extra incentive to attend, everything will be 15% off.

FAD Market Holiday Pop-Ups
Saturday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 3rd. | Daily 11am—7pm. Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn
Standing for fashion, art, and design, FAD is a year-and-a-half-old Brooklyn-based traveling marketplace that highlights local makers. This season it’s hosting three weekend events, and the first one starts this Saturday. See all the jewelry, art prints, home accessories, and more to discover here, and find details on every market FAD’s putting on this season here.

NY Handmade Collective Holiday Market Experience
Now through Sunday, December 3rd. | Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Avenue, Manhattan
Formerly known as the Etsy NY Team, NYHC takes handmade goods from tri-state artisans off your computer screen and into real life — but with free raffle entries for everyone. This organization is another that’s hosting several different events: You can shop at Chelsea Market now through December 3rd (details on that below), or check out its other Manhattan and Brooklyn events later in December, which go by the pleasing name of Holiday Handmade Cavalcade.

Mega Mega Holiday Sale
Wednesday, December 6th and Thursday, December 7th. Daily 11am—8pm. | 120 Walker Street, Suite 4R, Manhattan
This one is all about the extras. The downtown showroom that represents both local and international jewelry and accessories designers — labels like sustainable jewelry brand Bario Neal is doing a holiday market. Try shopping here for someone who’s difficult to surprise.
