IMG_9951Dear readers,

There is just far too many wonderful sustainable topics out there for me to cover at this point. I’ve resorted to aggregating. I’m relieved when a call get cancelled so I have more time to work. When an email shows up with something beautiful I want to cover, instead of getting excited, I just get stressed out. There are so many groundbreaking things I want to do, and no time to do them.

I could use a helping hand. Do you or someone you know want to be my intern?

What You’ll Get

I’m not so much into exploitation and soul-sucking situations. I want this internship to be valuable not just to me, but to you. You might call it a fair trade internship! Unfortunately, unlike Oprah Winfrey, I am not a billionaire. So please don’t dislike me when I say I cannot give you a living wage. (Oh, that would be lovely.)

However, I can give you this:

  • Improved writing (through hands-on editing by me)
  • Pitching stories
  • Interviewing sources
  • Interfacing with industry professionals
  • Researching
  • Copyediting and fact checking
  • SEO techniques
  • Digital photography and post-production basics
  • WordPress
  • Social media

Résumé Builders to Impress

Perks You’ll Like

  • Keep whatever revenue that you generate during your time at EcoCult, including affiliate, advertising, and whatever else creative income streams that you can dream up (within ethical parameters, of course). This is not intended to be a living wage. It’s just intended to subsidize a night out every once in a while. A tiny bit.
  • Hang out with me in my light-filled apartment in what has been deemed the trendiest neighborhood in America
  • Help me “research” sustainable restaurants for inclusion on EcoCult. A.K.A. expensing your meals.
  • “Test” sustainable freebies that I’m sent. A.K.A. free stuff for you!

  • Living in NYC and able to commute to Williamsburg, Brooklyn
  • Able to work somewhere between 5-25 hours a week, depending on your schedule

  • Graphic design skills
  • Your own blog already up and running

If this sounds cool to you, please email alden@ecocult.com with your résumé and 1-2 writing samples. Do not attach your cover letter to your email because it is 2015 and we are over that. But please include a link to your blog or website if you have one, and social media profiles.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
