horseWinter Horseback Riding and Wine Tasting

Sun. 03/08 | 9 to 5:30 pm @ Eastern Mountain Sports on Upper East Side Escape the city for the day and feel like you’ve been gone for a week on this breathtaking horseback ride through a Winter Wonderland. The stables are nestled among hundreds of wooded acres and boast some of the most picturesque riding trails in the Northeast. After a short safety briefing, you will meet your horse, get saddled up and ride for approximately one hour through fields and woods with an experienced wrangler. Then drive to a renowned Hudson Valley vineyard near by for wine tasting. Sample reds and whites, along with some of the best hard ciders in America. Enjoy the winery’s live acoustic music and stroll around the vineyard grounds at your leisure. All skill levels are welcome, even those who have never been on a horse before. If you are an experienced rider, in proper conditions cantering is allowed. Reserve for $139

The idea for organizing the gathering of women was inspired by "Arise," which will be screened at this event. Narrated by actress and environmental activist Daryl Hannah, this documentary weaves together poetry, music, art and stunning scenery with the inspirational stories of women around the world who spearheaded projects that helped "heal injustices against the earth." Sample spirits made in New York featuring ingredients grown in New York. Pouring beverages at the event are Breuckelen Distilling, Van Brunt Stillhouse and Kings County Distilling, with more to come. Proceeds from this event will benefit the non-profit Slow Food NYC Urban Harvest program supporting good food education for New York City kids at 16 schools around the city and on an educational, urban farm in East New York, Brooklyn. Beat of Africa: The Ethical Fashion Initiative
