Sun. 02/15 | 1 to 5 pm @ Jimmy’s No. 43, 43 East 7th Street, East Village, Manhattan
I know, I know, you don’t do hot dogs. So pedestrian. But what if they were gourmet, from a restaurant that specializes in locally-sourced meat? Now we’re talking. Also, Danish craft beer, prizes, Evil Twin beer pairings, and special surprise guests will be there. You get to taste all of the hot dog creations–The Mexi-Dog with pico de gallo, guacamole, pickled jalapeño, and fresh tortilla chips; The God Morgen Dog topped with sriracha-ketchup, jalapeño cole slaw, deviled egg cream, and bacon; and The Hot Hanoi, with sriracha-mayo, pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro and mint–and vote on your favorite. Revolving Dansk’s Copenhagen Street Dog will also be served to everyone after 4pm with the classic Danish rød pølse and toppings, including Brooklyn local Tin Mustard, Danish apple ketchup, remoulade, chopped onions, fried onions, and Scandinavian sweet pickles.
Tickets: $20 Regular, $25 At the door
The Brooklyn Slur – Fitzcarraldo
7 to 9 pm Fitzcarraldo, 195 Morgan Ave (btn. Meadow & Stagg), Williamsburg, Brooklyn
The Slow Food NYC monthly Happy Hour is your opportunity to talk to the leadership of Slow Food NYC and let them know what you think. Got a great idea for an event? Looking for ways to get involved? Want to learn more about Slow Food? Just looking to have a relaxing drink with other “Slow” minded people? This month it’s at Fitzcarraldo, a Northern Italian restaurant located in a former warehouse in Bushwick. Blue-tiled floors, exposed brick, and an open kitchen reinforce the farm-to-table experience that features a well-edited, seasonal menu (including a five-course tasting menu for $45). Focused on high-quality ingredients from the New York area, the restaurant was recently named a Critics’ Pick by the New York Times. Fitzcarraldo will offer $6 glasses of Montepulciano (red) or Colombard/Ugni Blanc (white).
If there’s anything I forgot, let me know in the comments!
