Fall isn’t here yet, no matter what Starbucks says. The leaves haven’t quite turned, and yesterday it was sunny and in the high 70s, with a light breeze. New Yorkers gathered on rooftops and in backyards across Brooklyn, savoring this last chance at good weather. We drank our last sumer ciders while we watched the sun set in soft pink clouds behind the New York skyline, regretfully pulling on sweaters as it got dark.

This heart star necklace represents the heart chakra, and is supposed to help with the purification of emotions, especially feelings of betrayal. I bought it in Bali from a place called Stargate, which sells hundreds of variations on the theme of sacred geometry. (As I write this, their website is down, but I’m linking to it anyway in the hopes that it will come back up.)
