Inspired by a quest to understand true luxury in one of the world’s most exclusive shopping districts, the Ethical Fashion Academy will be hosting a guided three hour tour throughout SOHO in New York City this coming Sunday, May 4th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm. And yours truly will be there!
“Ethical designers are equipped to assess the impact of their decisions in a positive or negative way. Understanding and implementing practices of quality and respect for craft are key for the luxury designer to thrive,” says Carmen Artigas, who will be leading the tour. She’s the originator of the Ethical Fashion curriculum at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design, and is a frequent guest speaker in the topic of sustainable and ethical design.
The hands-on “walk & talk” seminar will delve into an in-depth analysis of sustainable luxury design, branding, and marketing in the retail landscape. The seminar will cover over 20 retail designer and independent boutiques of apparel, home, and lifestyle products. Intended for both designers and consumers, attendees will learn to recognize emerging patterns towards craft, artisanship, and sustainability within a luxury retail landscape.
