Yoga and Silent Dinner

Greenpoint restaurant Eat has been hosting silent Sunday night suppers for diners looking to enjoy a more focused, reflective eating experience. Now they’ve partnered with pop-up creators Imagination in Space to bring some physical focus into the mix. The evening begins with a 60 minute open-level class led by Pop Up Yoga founder Angelic Olstad. After the mats are rolled up, silently enjoy a vegetarian meal constructed with local and organic ingredients complemented by Prosecco and whatever alcohol you wish to bring. On the menu this month: Roasted Parsnip Bisque with Toasted Sage; Curry Mulled French Lentils With Chili Ghee, Brown Jasmine Rice and Violet Slaw; and Butternut Pecan Mousse with Shaved Apple and Herbs.

NYC Brewers Choice

NYC Brewer’s Choice returns as a featured event of the annual NYC Beer Week and this year, it has an all New York State focus, with dozens of breweries, including Captain Lawrence, Heartland Brewery, Ommegang, something called Bridge and Tunnel, Sixpoint Craft Ales ( a batch of Sweet Action made using 100% NY State ingredients), Greenport Harbor and some under-the-radar beers to add to your repetoir. The Regional Grains Project with Grow NYC and Valley Malt will be providing locally grown and roasted malt that will be featured in many of the beers. Plus, you can get bites for pairing with your beer from restaurants like Luke’s Lobster, Mile End, Jimmy’s No. 43, Reynard and an oyster shucking station.
