Fan of Women’s Health? Prevention? (Bad name, great magazine.) Runner’s World? Behind them all is Rodale, a publisher focused on bringing organic and healthful living advice based on science to the masses.
Now, Rodale has a luxury shopping website, selling everything from organic jams to sustainable coasters to eco-friendly clothing. It’s called … Rodale’s.
Three weeks after its launch, the website threw a launch party at the farm-to-table restaurant Willow Road, in the Meatpacking District. While waiters passed out yellow tomato gazpacho, organic fingerling potatoes, chickpea panelles, bite-sized spring onion paninis, mini shrimp rolls and spoonfuls of sticky toffee pudding topped with a dollop of whipped cream (which is a thing at Willow Road, for good reason), guests perused some of the items on Rodale’s site. Music consisted of the founders’ favorites, like Lumineer’s.
I tasted an assortment of jams from Inna (Get the Tayberry. DO IT.) and recognized many of the beauty products, like Dr. Hauschka. Meanwhile, I sipped a special cocktail made from CROP organic vodka, Silk Road organic black tea, aperol, lemon and tarquinia sage pomegranate bitters. That’s as delicious as it sounds.
Guest took home reusable organic cotton gift bags with a stunning cutting board from Tin Roof, plus a choice of a couple items among organic Silk Road teas, Inna jam, organic tomato passata sauce, and a DIY goat cheese kit.
