We were treated to not one but two snow days this week in New York City. And I was prepared. Well, sort of. I still can't get into the idea of carrying an umbrella when it snows. So I just walk around getting my hair wet and being happy about it. Still, I was bundled up tight in several items I'm happy to say have a story behind them: Ethical Street Style: Snow Days Are the Best Days! The knit hair band is great for when I have my hair up in a ponytail or bun. It's from ThreeBirdNest on Etsy. The vegan coat is from Vaute Couture, and is still available! The material and coat itself are both made in New York state. And damn, that thing is warm. Short of wearing real fur, you won't get anything warmer, and that includes puffies. The boots were my big splurge of the season, but I'm hoping I can wear them for the next 15 or 20 years. They're from Maiyet, who has all its items handcrafted by artisans all over the world.
leather barbed wire necklace

This barbed wire necklace, which I think got complimented four times within a half hour, is a long leather necklace by a vendor at Artists and Fleas in Williamsburg.
